MILFORD - Donald J. Benson, 83, of Milford, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. Donald was born in Milford, the son of the late Herman E. and Mabel (Savage) Benson. He served in the National Guard. For 40 years, he was a machinist for Playtex retiring in 1995. He also enjoyed farming. He was a member of the Independent Bible Fellowship Church in Harrington. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Ruth (Sullivan) Benson in 2015; and a daughter, Bonita Kelly Benson. He is survived by his stepsons, Wayne Boyce and his wife Bonnie of Georgetown and James H. Boyce of Talladega, Ala.; brother, Martin Leon Benson and wife Linda of Lincoln; sister, Doris Smith and husband Bob of Lincoln; five step grandchildren; and several step great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 12, 2016 in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 N.W. Front St., Milford, where friends may call after 1 p.m. Burial will be in Slaughter Neck Cemetery, Milford. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Gideons Bible (www.gideons.org)
