Dover - Dennis W. Clark passed away on March 1, 2018 at home with family. He was born on March 23, 1958 in Little Creek, to George Ray and Agnes "Pinky" Clark.
As a young man Denny started school in Little Creek and then graduated from Dover High School. He enjoyed the outdoors, he used to tend his muskrat traps everyday before school and did a tremendous amount of hunting and fishing. He was an avid deer hunter who really enjoyed taking his son and nephews to share his experiences with them. Denny always seemed to figure out how to get the most out of the hunt and out of life. He grew up playing baseball at Dover Little League. After baseball he started playing softball which led him to his lovely wife Gail. Denny had a long, eventful softball career playing for some of the best teams around. Here he met a lot of friends and made life long memories. He was a highly respected player and person that everyone adored. He then coached all of his son Robby's baseball and all star teams at Camden Little League. Denny was a great motivator, teacher and all around great guy. He loved being with his family, whether it be holiday dinners, grilling outback near the pool, camping at Cherrystone, golfing in Florida, taking mom up to the casino or betting on horses at the track. Denny was a very hard worker, he earned everything that came to him. He started at a young age when he worked as a Hunting Guide for Dick Short. He then started a Kent County career that lasted over 30 years. First he worked as a dispatcher for 911, then to work with the Division of Wastewater and ended with Community Services in the Parks and Recreation Division as a Park Worker. After retiring from Kent County he went to work for Del Dot for six years. Denny will be missed by everyone he came in contact with throughout his time here with us.
Denny is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Gail (Courtney) Clark; son, Robby Clark and girlfriend Amanda Hill; parents, George Ray and Agnes "Pinky" Clark; sister, Joyce Harvey (Mitchell Banks); brother-in-laws, Glenn Courtney (Emily), Vaughn Courtney (Diane), Lee Courtney and Mark Courtney; nephews, Jason Courtney (Darla), Brian Courtney (Katie); great nieces, Stephany Courtney and Jada Courtney; great nephews, Anthony Hydro and Davey Peer, many more nieces and nephews and extended family members; and of course his hunting partner, Willie "WC" Hand.
Viewing will be held on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Trader Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at 11 a.m. Burial service will follow at Sharon Hills.
