Delaware picked fifth in final CAA preseason football poll

NEWARK — Delaware isn’t eligible to win the Coastal Athetic Association football title this fall.

But in their last CAA preseason poll before moving up the FBS level, the Blue Hens were picked to finish fifth in the 16-team league.

Villanova was voted the favorite to win thie CAA crown, followed by Richmond, Albany, William & Mary and Delaware. The Hens did receive three of the 16 first-place votes.

Delaware also had two players named first-team on the Preseason All-Conference team in running back Marcus Yarns and offensive lineman Fintan Brose,,Wide receiver and kick returner JoJo Bermudez, punter Josh Cupitt and defensive back Tyron Herring all earned preseason honorable mention honors.

The Hens are still playing their CAA schedule this season. The Hens open the season on Aug..29 .by hosting CAA newcomer Bryant.
