David P. Collins, 51
David P. Collins died on December 4, 2023, after battling lung cancer and other health issues for a while.
David was born in Dover, DE and remained in the area throughout his life. He attended The Little School for kindergarten and graduated from Dover High.
He worked at the Dover Post, Playtex, Perdue, and many other places. He enjoyed long detailed conversations, bowling, fishing, cooking, smoking, drinking, playing pool, looking for a new job, and seeing how far he could stretch a dollar. He had an extensive tool collection and played guitar.
He was married to Christina Collins who preceded him in death in 2016. He was very unique and very much loved. He is survived by his son, David W. Collins; and sister, Kelly (Dan) McDowell of New Holland, PA; his mother, Norma Taylor Collins of Dover, DE; his aunt, Nita Daley of Onancock Virginia; his aunt, Vicki Collins of Frisco, North Carolina; and cousin, Chris Daley. His father, John R. Collins, departed the earth on the same day 19 years earlier. May they be happily reunited in heaven.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023 at 7 pm at Torbert Funeral Chapels located at 1145 E. Lebanon Rd., Dover, DE 19901. Friends and family may visit beginning at 6 pm. A reception will follow at Jackson House.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to Code Purple Delaware. Check website for ways to contribute, https://codepurple delaware.com or mail to 1207 E. Division St., Dover, DE 19901.
Letters of condolence may be sent, and guestbook signed at www.torbertfuneral.com
