HAMPTON, Va. - David Lee Ricketts of Hampton, Va., departed this life Saturday, April 21, 2007, in the Hampton Veteran"s Affairs Medical Center.

Mr. Ricketts was born on Oct. 27, 1958, in Easton, Md., the youngest son of Gilbert D. Ricketts and Alice M. Ricketts Miller.

He received his formal education in the public school systems in Caroline County and Sussex County, Del.

He served in the U.S. Army from July 1976 to January 1979, specializing in military intelligence while stationed at Fort Meade, Md.

Mr. Ricketts had a passion for computers. He spent much of his free time taking computers apart and putting them back together.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Alice Miller of Seaford; six siblings and their spouses, Martha Stanley of Federalsburg, Md., Isabelle and Frederick Whittington of Hampton, Brenda Winder of Wilmington, Del., Diane Thomas of Chesapeake and Deborah and Thomas Blackwell of Lawton, Okla.; a brother, Stanford and Brenda Ricketts of Orlando, Fla.; a stepbrother, Keith Miller of South Carolina; four aunts, Helen Salisbury of Chesapeake, Flossie Hall of Salisbury, Md., Esther Brown of Upper Marlboro, Md. and Anna Hammond of Wilmington; an uncle, Mark Winder of Bridgeville, Del.; nieces, Terri Whittington and Michelle Whittington, both of Hampton, Mona Bausone of Sandston and Kimberly Winder of Wilmington; nephews, Frederick Whittington Jr. of Port Republic, Md., Ryan Whittington of Riverview, Fla., Maurice Stanley Jr. of Bryan, Texas, Vincent Stanley of Wentzville, Mo., Timothy Blackwell of Woodbridge, Troy Blackwell of Tulsa, Okla., Stanford Ricketts Jr. of Bel Air, Md., Gladys Ann Mann of Denton, Md., Renee Jones of Federalsburg, Md., Jason Ricketts of Philadelphia; and a host of other family members and friends.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in New Zion United Methodist Church, Laurel, Del., where friends may call two hours earlier.

Burial will be in Federal Hill Cemetery, Federalsburg.

Arrangements by Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Seaford.
