David K. Holman

DOVER - David K. Holman, Sr. passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2017 at Temple University Hospital surrounded by his family.
Mr. Holman was born on Aug. 23, 1944 in Medford, Mass.
He served his country with honor for nine years, which included time during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army. He was a Purple Heart recipient.
After more than 30 years of service for the State of Delaware, Department of Corrections, he retired with the rank of Major.
Dave was an avid sports fan, including Red Sox baseball, Patriots football, boxing, cricket, and Bruins hockey. He was the founder of a national boxing predictions league, which was called The True Fans of Boxing. Through this league, Dave had many social media followers, including professional boxers, boxing promoters, and boxing enthusiasts around the world.
He loved his R&B music, attending numerous concerts, and in turn met many famous musicians. He was proud to have a large collection of photographs taken with him and famous musicians that he admired.
He is survived by his wife and best friend, Barbara; four sons, David Holman, Jr. and his wife Joy of Ohio, Kurt Holman and his wife Kortney of New Mexico, Keith Holman and his wife Jessica of Dover, and John Jansen and his wife Patricia of Michigan; eleven grandchildren, Olivia, Ryan, Nicholas, Alexis, Kaitlyn, Seth, Jaiden, Kurt, Jr., Izabella, James, and Matthew; and numerous extended family members and close friends.
A viewing will be held on Friday, Oct. 20, 2017 from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main St. in Smyrna.
Celebration of Life services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the COAD Building, located at 1243 College Park Drive in Dover. The family requests that you bring your favorite Dave story.
Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Gift of Life Family House, 401 Callowhill St., Philadelphia, PA 19123, or to the charity of your choice.
