MAGNOLIA - David E. Freese, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2009, in his home with his loving family by his side. He was 60. David was born in Skowhegan, Maine, to the late Willard and Doris E. Freese. Mr. Freese served his country proudly in the United Sates Army during the Vietnam War, after his graduation from Madison High School in Maine. He also went to the Skowhegan Business School in Maine. Mr. Freese retired from the Harrington Post Office as a mail carrier. He was a board member of the Southern Delaware Postal Employees Federal Credit Union for three years. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching the Red Sox. He loved reading, gardening, and playing golf. The most important thing to Dave was his relationship with Jesus Christ, Lorraine, the love of his life, and his family. He was an extraordinary man who lived a simple life and cared for others more than himself. He gave life to his son-in-law, James Cross, by donating his kidney in 2006. Dave's life was a strong Christian example to everyone. Mr. Freese was a member of the Manship Chapel, where he was a deacon for the past three years. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bob Freese. He is survived by his loving wife, Lorraine Freese of Magnolia; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and James Cross of Bremen, Maine; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Michelle Freese of Dover; daughters and sons-in-law, Alane and Brian Bruns of Felton, and Jenni and Stephen Glick of Dover; sisters and brothers-in-law, Julie and Bill Flanigan of Florida, and Cheryl and Bob Bardwell of Maine; brother and sister-in-law, Allan and Vickie Freese of Maine; six grandchildren, Dylan, Joshua, Bradley, Meaghan, Logan and Madeline; and several nieces and nephews. A visitation was held on Friday, Sept. 18, 2009, at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Hwy., Harrington. Services were Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009 at Manship Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manship Chapel Building Fund, 4912 Burnite Mill Road, Felton, DE 19943. Arrangements are by the Melvin Funeral Home, Harrington.
