CAMDEN - David Collin Vaughan, Sr. passed away Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Accent Care Christiana Hospital.
David was born December 13, 1943, in South Hampton County, Virginia to the late Charles Vaughan and Betty Hill Vaughan. He joined the Air Force in 1962 and later stationed at McGuire AFB, NJ where he met his wife, Georgia. They were married in August 1969, shortly after that David served one year in Viet Nam. Upon returning home, his next station with the family was Ellsworth, South Dakota before coming to Dover Air Force Base in 1975.
David spent 26 years in the Air Force as an aircraft maintenance technician before retiring as a Master Sargent in 1987. David and his wife Georgia enjoyed traveling to Myrtle Beach and the mountains of Tennessee.
After his retirement he worked in maintenance for Burns & Ellis Realty until 2015. He loved playing on his computer and tinkering on electronics.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Georgia Carroll Vaughan; son, David Vaughan, Jr.; siblings, Charles, Paul, Willie, Ella Sue and Shelia.
He is survived by his daughter, Vicki Windsor and her husband Scott of Dover and daughter, Michele Jones and her husband Dave of Magnolia; brothers, Billy Vaughan of Tucson, AZ and Sammy Vaughan and his wife Gini of Goldsboro, NC; grandchildren, Zachary Windsor and Joshua Windsor both in Delaware and Evan Moser.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Monday, November 20, 2023 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. A viewing will be held from 6-8 Sunday evening. Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Accent Care Hospice, Christiana Hospital.
