HARRINGTON - David C. Weaver, of Harrington, died peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, May 3, 2008. He was 72.
David was born in Fort Smith, Ark., to Jetter and Bertha Weaver.
He entered the Air Force in 1952, and retired as a master sergeant after 25 years.
He received many awards and commendations during his tenure. One was the Distinguished Service Cross and another was a commendation for saving a fuel truck from exploding.
He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. He served in Guam; Goose Bay, Labrador; Morocco; Thailand; and several tours in England. He met and married his wife while in England.
In 1975, after leaving the service, David and the family moved to Harrington.
He worked for Baltimore Air Corp. in Milford from 1978 until 1995.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Joe Weaver; and one sister, Eloise Simmer.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Patricia E. Weaver; three daughters, Deborah J. Buswell and her husband Francis of Dover, Beverley D. Pond and her husband Paul of Dover and Melissa A. Weaver and her significant other Paul of Bel Air, Md.; two sisters, Genevieve Rodden of Arkansas and Anna Lee Bynum of St. Louis; and five grandchildren, Kris, Zach, David, Monica and Kelsey.
Friends may visit with the family from 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Price Funeral Home, 6 Dorman St., Harrington.
Interment will be private in the Veterans Cemetery in Millsboro.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Asbury United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 200 Weiner Ave., Harrington, DE 19952.
