DOVER - David A. George Sr., died Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008, in Capitol Healthcare. He was 78. Mr. George was born Dec. 26, 1929 in Philadelphia, Pa., to the late Robert H. George and Loretta MacLeish George. He served in the United States Army and retired after 30 years as Command Sgt. Major. Mr. George worked sales for American Vending and had worked for Culligan water as well. Mr. George was a member of the American Legion Walter L. Fox Post 2 and the VFW in Camden. He loved to umpire softball leagues. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Jameson George in 2003. Mr. George is survived by his wife of 53 years, Margrit George of Dover; two sons, David A. George Jr. and his wife Karen of Texas, and Curt George of Harker Heights, Texas; a daughter, Janet Young and her husband Thomas of Middletown; a brother, Tommy George of Phenix City, Ala.; a sister, Mary Dilks and her husband John of Greensboro, N.C.; and two grandchildren, Sydney and Samantha George. Funeral services will be 9 a.m. Wednesday at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover.
