Butler Sr., 69 BRIDGEVILLE - Daniel W. "Bill" Butler Sr. passed away on Saturday Nov. 2, 2013 at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. Mr. Butler was born in Milford, the son of the late Samuel Amos and Mary Elizabeth (Cleaves) Butler. Mr. Butler worked for Brittingham Const. Co. in Maryland then went to work for AP Croll & Son in Georgetown where he worked for 46 years, before retiring in 2010. Mr. Butler loved his job and thought of his employer and co-workers as his second family. He enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting, but his passion was dirt track racing and NASCAR. In addition to both parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Robert and Donald Butler; and a sister, Thelma Ford. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Thelma (Sparpaglione) Butler; daughter, T. Ann Truitt of Bridgeville, son, Daniel W. Butler Jr. of Bridgeville; and daughter, Debra Butler and fiancé, Allen Cornish of Milford; sisters, Ethel Breasure, Nora Ann Robinson and Irene Joseph; six grandchildren, John R. Benchoff, Raven Holcomb and husband Mike, Robin M. Borja, Dwight Cornish and wife Rachel, Dustin Cornish and Jessica Butler; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013 in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home 119 N.W. Front Street Milford De, where friends may call after 11a.m. Burial will be in Milford Community Cemetery. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to Delaware Hospice center 100 patriots way Milford, De. 19963 or to the Ellendale United Methodist Church, Charge, P.O. Box 193 Ellendale, De. 19941
