
Daniel Selby (Uncle Dan) Bloxom, 85
SMYRNA - Daniel Selby (Uncle Dan) Bloxom, husband of the late Jo Ann Byrd Bloxom and a lifelong resident of Smyrna, DE passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2022.
Born in Nassawadox VA and raised in Mappsville, VA, he was the son of the late Selby G. Bloxom and the late Mattie N. Bloxom.
He graduated from Parksley High School in 1955 and then moved to Smyrna, DE on September 12, 1955. He married Jo Ann on October 29, 1955.
In 1955, Daniel began working at Irwin G. Burton (currently Willis Chevrolet) and then continued working for more than 40 years in the Willis Chevrolet sales department. Dan served in the Delaware Army National Guard HQ & HQ 197 AAA BN AW (SP). He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and a 55-year member of Harmony Lodge #13 AF&AM. He was awarded the Delaware Grand Lodge Award of Honor in 2004.
Uncle Dan enjoyed traveling, especially to the Eastern Shore of Virginia and enjoyed Chincoteague oysters.
In addition to his wife and parents, Daniel was preceded in death by his two sisters, Audrey B. Passwaters and Grace B. Shreaves, Kenny M. Northam and his little darling Janet L. Clark. He is survived by his niece, Patricia A. Musto of Smyrna, DE; great nephew, Kevin J. Musto (Katrina); great niece, Amy C. Musto also of Smyrna, DE; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, October 14, 2022 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce Street Smyrna, DE with a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m., followed by a memorial service with Pastor Julie A. Lewis from Asbury United Methodist Church. Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Odd Fellows Cemetery, followed by a celebration of life at the Smyrna Opera House.
