DOVER - Daniel Lapp went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Jan. 26, 2019. Dan was born on Feb. 3, 1944 in Gap, Pa. His family moved to Worton, Md. early in his life where he grew up on a farm. He later moved to Delaware where he met his wife, Ida Mae and they were married in 1965. He built their home in Dover in 1970.
Dan accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at a young age and throughout life he blessed those around him with his ability to show the love of Christ. He and his wife welcomed many people into their hearts and home with open arms.
His career afforded him many jobs in construction, plumbing and trucking. He owned and operated D.L. Trucking, worked as a stove technician for Bylers, a charter bus driver, and was a porter for Hertrich Automotive. He was a loyal donor at Blood Bank of Delmarva and offered his time to Habitat for Humanity. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and especially spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ida Mae; children, Joyce Yoder (Ron), Rick Lapp (Joyce) and Jennifer Reeves (Robert); grandchildren, Kari Yoder, Ryan Yoder (Alyssa), Eric Weldon, Nick Grassett, Amanda Dore' (Tanner), Kayla Schultz (Travis), Holly Reeves (fiancé, Luis Esqueda) and Rachel Reeves; great grandchildren, Luke, Caroline, Colin, Riley and James; brothers, Mervin Lapp (Sue) and Elvin Lapp (Nancy), family and friends.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter; his parents; and his sister, Edna Mae Yoder (Alvin).
A viewing will take place Monday, Feb. 4, 2019 at Maranatha Fellowship Church, 60 Deer Track Lane, Dover, DE 19904 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019, with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment to follow at Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.
