Damien Alston passed on January 8, 2021 in San Leandro, Calif. He is the son of Vernon & Bobbie J. Alston of Camden.
He attended area k-12 schools including Towne Point Elementary, William Henry Middle School and Central Middle School. He attended both Dover High School, Northwestern High School in Maryland, and eventually graduated from Polytech High School with a Medical Assistant certification in 2000. Damien was an academic scholar, and graduated with options to enlist in the Navy in a medical field or accept an academic scholarship at Delaware State University. He chose the latter, and graduated with a Bachelors degree in History in 2013. He pursued a Masters degree shortly thereafter, and earned a Masters degree in Information Systems Technologies in 2016.
Damien was actively involved as a campaign manager for local representatives in Delaware prior to relocating to California. Damien's interests were varied, and he more recently pursued a career in Environmental Science, with assignments in Colorado and Florida.
Damien was preceded in death by his older brother, Vernon Alston, Jr.
He is survived by his wife of three years, Kimberly Alston; his son, Johnathan Alston; and step-son, Eldre Gladney; his parents; a sister, nieces and nephews, and a host of family and friends.
Celebration of Life services will be held 12 p.m. Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Crossroad Christian Church, 4867 N. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19904. A Public Viewing will begin at 11 a.m. with formal home going services to follow. Internment immediately following services in Barrett's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica, Del.
