Dalton R. Croom Sr.

HARRINGTON - Dalton R. "DAL" Croom Sr., of Harrington, went home to meet his savior on Sunday, July 31, 2011, at his home. He was 66. Dal was born in Farmville, N.C., on April 2, 1945, he was the son of Vernon and Mabel Graves Croom. He worked in Power Line Construction, up and down the east coast until he became disabled in 1991. Dal is survived by his wife, Jean M. Croom; his son, Dalton Ray Croom Jr. and his fiancé Lorraine Thompson; two daughters. Cheryl Conrow and family of Virginia and Tina Quatne and family of North Carolina; his sister, Barbara and Steve Vandiford and family of Farmville, N.C.; two brothers, Donnie and Evelyn Croom, and Bryant and Diane Croom both of Fountain, N.C.; a step-son, David and Barney Smith of Greenwood; several grandchildren; and his four legged pal Woodie. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 4, 2011, at Fleischauer Funeral Home, in Greenwood. Friends may call one hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crossroads Community Church, 20684 State Forest Rd, Georgetown, DE 19947. Family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Seasons Hospice for Dal care.
