DOVER - Dale Woodard Stewart, 81, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2011, at Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was born on May 26, 1929, in Augusta, Kan. He moved to northern Virginia with his family when he was 12 years old where he attended George Washington High School. He was very active in church in Alexandria, Va. Dale served in the Army for two years, but dedicated 38 working years as a Federal Government Employee. A few years after his retirement Dale became a resident of Delaware. He attended People's Church of Dover where for a few years he sang in the choir. Dale is survived by his sweetheart of 59 years, Betsy; three children, William Stewart and his wife Debbie, Julie Borden and her husband Christopher, and Scott Stewart and his wife Mandy; seven wonderful grandchildren, William W. Stewart Jr., Erin Stewart, Kelsey Stewart, Matthew J. Ferguson, Julianne Borden and Nicholas Borden and baby MacKenna Stewart; and a twin sister, Donna Moore and her husband Samuel N. Moore. A private interment will be at the Delaware Veterans Cemetery in Millsboro. At a later time there will be a memorial service at People's Church of Dover. We ask that in lieu of flowers, if you are so inclined, please make donations in Dale's name to Peoples Church of Dover, 46 S. Bradford St., Dover, DE 19904; or Alzheimer's Association, Julie H.C. Bailey Training Center, 100 S. Main St., Suite 211, Smyrna, DE 19977. Letters of condolences can be sent via www.pippinfuneralhome.com.
