NEW YORK, N.Y. - Cynthia Durham Monacchio, of New York, formerly of Millington, Md., died Saturday, August 20, 2011, at her home in New York. She was 51. Cynthia Durham Monacchio was born Dec. 9, 1959, in Chestertown, Md., the daughter of Pat Durham Mitchell and the late Andrew Woodall Durham. Cynthia was a 1977 graduate of Kent County High School where she played the flute in the marching band and was an exchange student to France. She then received a B.S. from Wesley College. She married Robert Monacchio in 1991. Cynthia worked as a bookkeeper for Neverwaste Inc. in New York for 14 years. Cynthia was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Millington, Md. As a youth she enjoyed all the activities of the church and enjoyed attending Camp Pecometh near Centreville, Md., as often as possible. Also in her youth, she served as a Life Guard at the Millington Community Pool for several years. She was a loving mother with a sweet disposition who was dedicated to raising her children. She enjoyed flower gardening and socializing with friends and family. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by two baby brothers; her first husband, John DeGroot; and her second husband, Robert Moncchio. She is survived by her two children, Tyler and Haley Monacchio of New York; her mother, Pat Durham Mitchell of Smyrna, Del.; one sister, Patricia Voshel of Millington, Md.; one brother, David Durham of Millington, Md.; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. A visitation will be held Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011, from 6-8 p.m. at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home 370 Cypress St. Millington, Md. Services will be held Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011 at 2 p.m. also at the funeral home. Interment will follow services in Millington Asbury Cemetery in Millington, Md.
