Curtis A. Bowers Sr.

DOVER - Curtis A. Bowers Sr., 58, of Dover, died suddenly on July 9, 2011, at his home. Curtis was born on Jan. 18, 1953, in Philadelphia, Pa., son of Margaret S. Bowers and the late Byrtrue L. Bowers. He was raised in the Felton area and graduated from Lake Forest High School. During his early life, he joined Mt. Plymouth AME Church where he attended Sunday School and sang on the youth choir. Curtis was preceded in death by his father in 2003. He did construction and masonary work. He is survived by his mother, Margaret S. Bowers of Dover; a daughter, Tylissa Letthand and husband, Alex, Sr. of Lincoln; a son, Curtis Bowers Jr. of Smyrna; five grandchildren, Yasmen, Jamir, Cienne, Alyssa and A.J.; two brothers, L. Vernon Bowers Sr. and wife Rebecca of Felton, and Phillip S. Bowers and wife Debbie of Seaford; Godson, Jajuan Bowers; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Celebration of life will be 1 p.m. Friday, July 15, at Calvary Baptist Church, Queen and Fulton Street, Dover, where friends may call two hours prior. Funeral arrangements are being provided by Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Dover.
