DOVER - Cordelia Marie Rochford, of Dover, died Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at Kent General Hospital. She was 79. She was born Sept. 19, 1931, in Dover, to the late Return Carney and Ola E. Beckett Carney. Mrs. Rochford worked for 10 years at Capitol Cleaners Uniform Rental before working as a Dietary Technician at Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill in Smyrna. She had raced ponies in her early 50's and belonged to the Pony Association of Delaware. Mrs. Rochford enjoyed playing cards and working in her garden but especially spending time with her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Rochford in 1977. She is survived by her sons, Norman Carney, Jr. and his wife Patricia of Dover, Gregory Carney and his wife Barbara of Smyrna, and Charles Rochford, Jr. "Marty" and his wife Kim of Dover; her daughters, Joan Silberski of Kansas, Dinita Ridgway and her husband Floyd "Perky" of Dover and Lisa Rochford of Newark; her brother, Willis Carney of Dover; her sisters, Mary Etta Carter of Dover, Betty Seeney of Clayton, Shirley Ann Seeney of Dover and Gloria Attix of Dover; her grandchildren, Renee Khiat, Steven Silberski, Erin Carney, Sandi Carney, Jason Carney, Adam Hill, Jackie Pleasonton, Harvey Seeney, Clayton Gilman, Kimberly Gilman, Heather Ridgway, Danielle Ridgway, Joshua Fosmire, Chandler Rochford, Alexandra Rochford, Shannon Rochford, Kristina Rochford, and Michelle Shockley; and a host of great- grandchildren Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Friday, April 22, 2011, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Interment will be in the Immanuel Union United Methodist Church Cemetery, Cheswold. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice Center, 911 S. Dupont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.
