'Joy' Fertal, 81
Constance "Joy" Fertal passed away Thursday 12/10/2021, peacefully surrounded by her family at Kent General Hospital in Dover, Delaware.
She was born 08/10/1940 in Norristown, Pa. Her parents were John and Frances Fertal. Some of her childhood memories were singing soprano in the church choir and playing with her dog Champ. Her greatest achievement was being an excellent mother, grandmother and role model of patience. She was a kind spirit, bringing joy to everyone that she met. She worked at Pinnacle Nursing Home, in housekeeping, until her retirement.
She enjoyed sitting outside on her porch or back patio with her daughter Carol watching nature and doing word find puzzles and having many family gatherings.
She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Caroselli, Sharon Fortunato, Donna Richey (David), and Carol Santillo (caregiver); and her grandchildren, John Caroselli (Sara), Marissa Richey, Nicholas Caroselli, Madison Richey; and her diva of a cat, Marmie. She is also survived her sister in-law, Elaine Fertal; and nephews, John Fertal III, Chris Fertal (Deb); and many other family and friends.
She was predeceased by her brother, John Fertal II; and parents, John Fertal and Frances Fertal.
A visitation will be held 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Sunday 12/19/2021 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, DE 19977.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to The Humane Society of the United States, 1255 23rd Street, NW, Suite 450, Washington, DC 20037.
