Coleman Watson Mosley

DOVER - Coleman W. Mosley, age 92, of North Queen Street, Dover, passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2018. Coleman was born Jan. 10, 1926 in Farmville, Va. as the fourth child of the late Archer W. Mosley, Sr. and Kate Ann Watson of Farmville, Va.
He received his early education from R.R.Moton Elementary and High School. He attended Virginia State College, Hampton Institute and received his B.S. in Mathematics from Delaware State College.
He was a World War II Army Veteran stationed for two years in the Pacific Theatre.
Coleman was joined in holy matrimony on Jan. 29, 1949 to his beloved Elaine Burton of Dover and to that union five children were born. He started his career as an electrician in Farmville, Va. and Delaware. He later worked for the United States Postal Service and the Pennsylvania Railroad. In 1987 he retired, after thirty-five years of outstanding service, from Delaware State College (now Delaware State University).
His hobbies included: aviation - building and piloting ultralights and helicopters, boating - sail and motor, motorcycling, photography and computers.
He was a member of: AOPA, Boy Scouts of America, Delaware State University Alumni Association, Jacques Cousteau Society, Pride of Dover Elks, Lodge #1125 and a Master Mason belonging to Prudence Lodge #6 of Dover.
Coleman was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Elaine; and two sisters, Olwen Mosley and Julia Shields.
His beautiful memories will long live in the hearts of many. To celebrate his home going he leaves: three sons, Michael W. Mosley of Philadelphia, Pa., Reginald B. Mosley of Tampa, Fla., Coleman W. Mosley, Jr. of Wilmington; two daughters, Deborah L. Fisher of Dover and Sharon E. Mosley of Freeport, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Susan Mosley of Washington, DC; two brothers, Archer W. Mosley, Jr. of Farmville, Va. and Samuel W. Mosley and wife Phillistine of Lynchburg, Va.; a brother-in-law, Uraine Shields of Richmond, Va.; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Whatcoat United Methodist Church, 341 Saulsbury Rd., Dover. Viewing: 1 to 3 p.m. Interment at Whatcoat Cemetery, Dover.
