MILLSBORO - Mr. Clinton K. Coulbourn, age 86, of Millsboro, and formerly of New Castle, passed away on Friday, Feb. 11, 2011, at his home. Born on April 30, 1924, in Gailstown, Md., Mr. Coulbourn was the son of the late Victor Coulbourn and Bertha Eskeridge Coulbourn. He went on to bravely serve his country in the United States Navy as a NDIVQM3/C, aboard the USS South Dakota (BB57), which was the most decorated battleship of WWII - a true hero ship. Mr. Coulbourn worked as an HVAC technician for Magness Construction. He then went on to work for the F.W. Woolworth Company for 12 years, retiring in 1986. Mr. Coulbourn enjoyed many hobbies in his leisure hours, and especially enjoyed golfing trips to Myrtle Beach, S.C., outings with the Terrace Athletic Club, and fishing along the Indian River Inlet, where he was an original jetty jumper. An avid sports fan, Mr. Coulbourn loved all the Philly sports teams and also greatly enjoyed going to the horse races. He was a member of the Millsboro Senior Center, the Millsboro Men's Bowling League, and the Senior Olympics. Mr. Coulbourn was a 57 year member of the Oak Orchard Riverdale American Legion Post #28 in Millsboro. In addition to his parents, Mr. Coulbourn was predeceased by his beloved wife, Emily A. Coulbourn; brother, Harold Coulbourn; and sisters, Lois Carey and Lee Koveleski. He is survived by his children, Victor G. Coulbourn (Kathy) of New Castle, Roy D. Coulbourn (Elsie) of Bear, and Valerie L. Wham (MannyKanas) of Pike Creek; niece, Cherie A. Schwander; brothers, Harley Coulbourn of Millsboro, Jennings Coulbourn of Dagsboro, and Levin Coulbourn of Virginia; grandchildren, Roy W. Coulbourn, Angela B. Wham, Kelly R. Coulbourn, and Jessica L. Coulbourn; great-grandchildren, Dylan, Austin, Brayden, Noah, Julian, Shane, Savannah, Nicky, and Baby Levi, who is due to arrive in March; and a host of nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where friends and family may call from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear.
