Clinton 'Cubby' Franklin Morris, 46

HARTLY - Clinton "Cubby" Franklin Morris, 46, of Hartly, passed away on Monday, Sept. 7, 2009, at his home surrounded by his loving family and friends. Cubby was born in Dover, on Jan. 21, 1963, to R. Henry Morris Sr. and Alva "Betsy" Ross. He was a life long resident of Hartly, where he was raised by his Father and "Mom" Sandra Bodine Morris. There, he spent his entire married life of 25 years with his soul mate, his loving wife Kathy. He loved his hometown and devoted much of his time to the Hartly Volunteer Fire Company. He became a member of HVFC in 1978 and over the years held several offices, he was a two time president and served on the Board of Trustees as well as Chief Engineer. He was a past Vice President of his local union 1036. Cubby loved his country and joined the Army at 18 where he served until 1984, and remained very patriotic his entire life. He returned home from the Military where he began driving for his fathers trucking company. He became an employee of the State of Delaware in 2003 to present. Cubby was an avid Dirt Track Racing and NASCAR Fan. He spent much of the past few months restoring a 57 Chevy with close family and friends. Cubby did everything with a sense of humor and never let anyone get away without a taste of it. Because of his awesome personality and great sense of humor he will be missed by everyone who was blessed enough to have him in their lives. He loved his constant companions "Kitty Boy" and "Daisy Mae," his canine companion for 15 years. Cubby was preceded in death by his father, the late R. Henry Morris Sr.; paternal grandparents, Raymond "Tiger" Clinton Morris, and Nancy Mae Clough Morris; and maternal grandparent, Charles Franklin Ross. Cubby is survived by his loving wife, Kathy; his "Mom", Sandra Morris of Hartly; "Mother", Alva "Betsy" Ross; maternal grandmother, Alice Elizabeth Hoagland of Rockhall, Md.; a daughter, Deanna Wus and her special friend Jackson Jacques; and four grandchildren, Jeremy, Adrienne, Christian and Tatyanna, all of Dover. He is survived by four brothers, R.H. Morris Jr. and his wife Suzanne of Hartly, Terry Morris and her special friend Karl Kinder of Rockhall, Md., Ronald Seamans of Dover, Raymond and Candy Morris of Hartly. Finally Cubby is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, a great niece, cousins, aunts, uncles and a host of extended family of brothers, sisters, and members associated with multiple fire companies throughout the region. There will be a viewing from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 13, at the Hartly Volunteer Fire House. Services will be at 1 p.m. Interment will be at the Templeville Cemetery, Templeville, Md. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Heartland Hospice, 261 Chapman Rd., Ste. 100, Newark, DE 19702; or Hartly Volunteer Fire Company, P.O. Box 28, Hartly, DE 19953.
