Clifford (Hap) Lindsay, 75

HARTLY - Clifford (Hap) Lindsay, formerly of Brookhaven and Media, Pa., died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009, in the Delaware Hospice House in Milford, after a long illness. He was 75. Clifford was born April 25, 1933 in Media, Pa., to the late Clifford L. Lindsay and Helen Dewees Lindsay of Media, Pa. He worked as a Head Chief for many years at Riddle Memorial Hospital, Media, Pa., until his retirement in 1992. He has lived in Hartly since. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in Korea for two years. He was also a drill instructor with the U. S. Marines for 10 years. Clifford served for many years with the Media Boys and Girls Club. He also volunteered for several years with the Delaware State Police at Troop 3, which he was very proud of. He is survived by his loving wife of more than 28 years, Joyce (Be Vier) Wall-Lindsay, of Hartly; step-sons, Kenneth (Cecilia) Wall, of Newark, and Bruce (Patty) Wall, of Newark; sisters, Mary Marcus and Helen Sharp, both of Waynesboro, Va.; and two grandchildren. Services will be private. A private burial will take place in Media Cemetery, Media, Pa. Memorial donations can be made in Mr. Lindsay's name to Hartly Ambulance Fund, c/o Hartly Fire Department, P.O. Box 28, Hartly, DE 19953; or Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19947, for all of their support during the illness. Arrangements by Bateman Funeral Home, Brookhaven, Pa.
