CORDOVA, Md. - Clayton L. Goad died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014, at his home. He was 82 years old. Born in Goldsboro, Md. on Feb. 6, 1932, Mr. Goad was the son of the late Obie Dolph Goad and Rosie Bella Nester Edwards. Mr. Goad had lived in Caroline and Talbot Counties most of his life. He had served in the U.S. Army from 1949 until 1952. He was a horse breeder, trainer, and driver. His passion was race horses and he was well-known in the Standardbred Race Industry. Mr. Goad is survived by his wife, Dolly Ann Callahan Goad of Cordova; a daughter, Sheryl Goad of Tallahassee, Fla.; a step-son, Brian Callahan and Gloria Kinnamon of Queen Anne; two brothers, Noble Goad (Nettie Mae) of Ridgely, Md. and Kenny Goad of Fredericksburg, Va.; two sisters, Nellie Rampmeyer (Tommy) of Trappe and Jean Brown (Bill) of Chestertown; four grandchildren, Michelle, Katrina, Ashley, and Jim; and seven great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind a special niece, Bonnie Owens of Fredericksburg; and his very good and special friends, Bobby and Jessica Walls and their son, Austin of Greensboro. He is preceded in death by a sister, Sybil Whitson; and two infant brothers, Rufus and Brufus. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014, in the Ridgely Cemetery in Ridgely, Md.
