Clarence Burton Stewart Jr.

Stewart, Jr., 61 LEWES - Clarence Burton Stewart, Jr., died Thursday March 21, 2013 at Beebe Medical Center surrounded by his brother Tony and sister -in law Cynthia Stewart after a brief illness. "Yank" as he was fondly called by his family and friends was born Oct 11, 1951 in Lewes to the late Clarence B. Sr., and Pauline Turpin Stewart. Yank was raised in Lewes and attended and graduated from Lewes High School in the class of 1969 where he excelled in Academics, Basketball and Track. Yank went on to further his education at Bridgewater College where he earned a BA Degree in Sociology. Yank worked as a manager of 7-11 stores in Wilmington, Del. Later he became employed by the Common Wealth of Pennsylvania as a case worker for Lower Marion Township. He worked that job for 28 years before retiring in June of 2006. He moved back home to be of and give support to his mother Pauline, who was dealing with her own health issues, she predeceased him in August of 2011. Yank in his earlier years attended St. George AME Church , belonging to the Temple Singers Choir, YPD, and Sunday School. Yank leaves to cherish his memories one brother, Tony and Cynthia Stewart, Seaford, Del.; one aunt, Hilda Wilson, Denton, Md.; two nieces, Toni Sheri and Theo McKinnon, Arlington, Va.; niece and godchild, Danielle N. Stewart, Seaford, Del.; one nephew, Greg and Angelica Cook, and their three children, Aja, Alexis, and Greg Jr. of Preston, Md.; and a host of cousins and friends. A Service will be held on Saturday March 30, 2013 at noon at St. George AME Church 317 Park Ave Lewes, DE 19958. Family and friends may call at the church two hours before the service.
