Christina MacLeish Baker

DOVER - Christina MacLeish Baker, of Dover, died Monday, July 18, 2011, at the Delaware Hospice Center after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. She was 48. Christina was born June 19, 1963, in Dover, to the late Thomas R. MacLeish and Gisela Gonnorman MacLeish. She held many positions throughout her career but most recently was the financial officer of Baker Appraisal Services. Christina was a member of the American Legion Walter L. Fox Post #2 Ladies Auxiliary, and was very active with her son's activities including Den Mother for her sons Boy Scout troop. She loved weather and meteorology. Christina was an avid Philadelphia Eagles, Phillies and Flyers fan. She never met a stranger. Christina loved fiercely and was devoted to her family and friends. Christina is survived by her husband of 25 years, Lynn Baker of Dover; son, William Edward Baker, II at home; siblings, Linda MacLeish Jensen and her mate Hugo Voogd of Fenwick Island, Thomas F. MacLeish and his wife Margie of Wyoming, Denise MacLeish and her husband Tony Devigili of Dover, Robert MacLeish and his wife Angela of Dover, Stephan MacLeish and his wife Sadie of Smyrna, and Patty Bivins and her husband Mark of Dover; and numerous nieces and nephews and grandnieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Friday, July 22, 2011, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State Street, Dover. Friends may call Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Interment will be in Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963; or Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition, Inc., 111 W. 11th St., Suite 3, Wilmington, DE 19801. Letters of condolence may be sent, and guestbook signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
