HARRINGTON - Charlotte A. Blades of Harrington died Tuesday, May 29, 2007, in her home. She was 87.

Mrs. Blades was born in Harrington, daughter of the late Charles L. Sr. and Sarah (Clark) Peck.

She was a homemaker who loved taking care of her husband, children and home.

Mrs. Blades was born and raised in Harrington, where she had many happy and "spirited" years with her husband Russell.

She will be truly missed by all who knew her.

In her spare time, Mrs. Blades enjoyed crocheting and made sure all the family had afghans.

Many summer were spent at Big Stone, where they always had fish and crabs to share with family and friends.

Mrs. Blades was often heard calling out to "Bugs Bunny" on the CB to see how many fish he had caught.

She always looked forward to July, when the Delaware State Fair came to town. She enjoyed going to the fair and seeing family and friends and looking at the exhibits.

Above all, Mrs. Blades enjoyed the company of her friends and family, and cherished spending time with them. She enjoyed their visits, and enjoyed going to visit them.

She was an honorary member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Harrington Fire Co., a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church, Harrington High Alumni class of 1937, the Harrington Senior Center and the American Legion CKRT Post 7.

Mrs. Blades was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harlan Russell Blades Jr.; her brothers, Lyman, Charles and Thomas Peck; a sister, Martha Draper; and four infant siblings.

She is survived by a daughter and a son-in-law, Nancy E. and Ned McIlvaine of Newark; a son and a daughter-in-law, Harlan R. III and Denise Blades of Wyoming; six grandchildren, Josh McIlvaine and his wife Angie of Northville, Mich., Jennifer Blackburn and her husband Don and Joni Robison and her husband Dave, all of Newark, Amy Saia and her husband Tony of Denton, and Melissa Blades and Christopher Blades, both of Wyoming; seven great-grandchildren, Rachel, Valerie and Charlie McIlvaine, all of Northville, Andrew, Logan and Holly Blackburn, all of Newakl and Landon Saia of Denton; a sister, Clarabel Walls and her husband William of Milford; a brother-in-law, Ralph Draper of Clermont, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Highway, Harrington, where friends may call one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.
