Charles William Leager, 65
TOWNSEND - Charles William Leager of Townsend died Monday, March 12, 2007, in Arbors of New Castle Rehabilitation Center. He was 65.
Mr. Leager was born June 16, 1941, in Sudlersville, Md., son of the late Nathaniel C. and Ethel V. (Holden) Leager.
He grew up on the family farm in Sudlersville, and was a 1959 graduate of Sudlersville High School.
Mr. Leager worked as a carpenter for Watco, as well as a self-employed carpenter.
He was a member of the Queen Anne's County 4-H and the Bluegrass Association.
Mr. Leager loved to dance, and enjoyed going to auctions and bluegrass festivals. In his earlier years he enjoyed playing basketball.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Leager was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Glanding; and three brothers, Paul Leager, Earl Leager and Brice Leager.
He is survived by seven sisters, Annie Leager of Smyrna, Ethel May Shorts of Church Hill, Md., Elizabeth Hay of Wilmington, Betty Ervin of Chestertown, Md., Doris Schelts of Massey, Md., Julia Marshall of Dover, and Helen Whaley of Betterton, Md.; one brother, Clifton Leroy Leager of Dover; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 370 W. Cypress St., Millington, Md.
Visitation will be held today from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
Interment will be held in Sudlersville Cemetery.
