MILLINGTON, Md. -- Charles W. "Chuck" Chavies, 67, of Millington, died Jan. 4, 2009, in Chestertown Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Mr. Chavies was born Aug. 14, 1941, in Flat Lick, Ky., son of the late Edward and Rahma Jackson Chavies. He was raised in Flat Lick and as a young man moved to Newark, Del. He lived in Millington since the late 1970s. Chuck was a mechanic for Maryland State Highway Administration in Centreville for 25 years, having perfect attendance during his career, and retired in 2004. He was preceded in death by a brother, Gayle Chavies. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Betty Jane "B.J." Faulkner Chavies; three stepchildren, Linda Steen of St. Michaels, Ricky Moore of Millington and Donna Rae Moore of Chestertown; a brother, Jackie Chavies; and three sisters, Judy Schuler and Frances Chavies, both of Knoxville, Tenn., and Rahma Jean Adams of Little Rock, Ark.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Service will be private. Arrangements by Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech.
