GREENWOOD - Charles Simpson Reynolds of Greenwood died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007, at home. He was 83.
Mr. Reynolds was born in Georgetown, the son of the late Charles and Mabel (Stooms) Reynolds.
He worked at Milford Memorial Hospital for 18 years, retiring in 1986 as supervisor of the plant engineering department.
Prior to working at the hospital, Mr. Reynolds had worked several jobs such as M.B. Downing Oil Co. in Milford as a service technician, at Swift & Co. in Milton in maintenance, at the hosiery mill in Milton and at Bond Bread in Harrington.
He was a devout man of God and was an active member of more than 20 years at the Seaford Seventh-day Adventist Church, where he served as both deacon and director of community services.
When he had the opportunity, Mr. Reynolds would enjoy going fishing, operating both his C.B. and Ham radios, tinkering around repairing radios, doing cabinet work, plumbing and whatever odd jobs he could get into.
He also was a frequent caller to the Sound Off section of the Delaware State News.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Reynolds was preceded in death by a son, James Reynolds; and a daughter, Doris Reynolds.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Gail (Geise) Reynolds; a daughter, Charlyn Bradley of Florida; three sons, Charles "Butch" Reynolds of Ellendale, Jerry Reynolds of Georgetown, and Keith Geise and his wife, Amy of Lewistown, Pa.; a brother, Linford Reynolds of Laurel; and a sister, Catherine Hudson of Georgetown; 15 grandchildren; six great -grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Ave., Milford, where friends may call after 11 a.m.
Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
