OCEAN CITY, MD - Charles "Mac" Samuel McCready, Jr. died peacefully on January 17, 2023. He was born in Crisfield, MD to the late Ella (Butler) and Charles Samuel McCready, Sr. The family later, moved to Baltimore, MD.
After serving in the U.S. Army, Mac began his career of 20 years with the Baltimore City Police Department; retiring as a detective. Afterwards, Mac held various positions at The US District Court for the District of Maryland, Ridgely Police Department and Harrington Raceway and Casino. He had a love for watching wildlife on the water, horses, visiting Assateague Island, fishing, crabbing and a nice cold bottle of Coca Cola.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 37 years, Barbara (Dewitt); and grandson, Devin Michael Campbell. Mac is survived by his wife and companion, Dorothy (Doyle) Cheatham; his loving daughters, Tracy Campbell (Mike) and Heather Barkley (Rob); step-children, Fernando Martin (Simone), Olivia Martin (Cody) and Rachel Barton (Josh); grandchildren, Madison, Kayla, Ashlynn, Elias, Roman, Nolan, Keelan, Lillian and Alora. Additionally, Mac is also survived by his closest friend for many years, "Chic" Horney.
Services were held privately.
