FELTON - Charles R. "Russell" Young Sr., 71, of Felton, died Monday, Oct. 18, 2010, at home. Mr. Young was born in Bell Grove, W.Va., the son of the late Dewey Thomas Young and Sylvia Glady Parsons Young. He worked for the Delaware Housing Authority for the State of Delaware in Maintenance for 23 years, prior to retirement. He served in the Unites States Army. He was preceded in death by his first wife Charlotte Young and two brothers Donald and Anthony and one sister Dorothy Hays. Mr. Young attended Southside Baptist Church loved Blue Grass Music and playing Sudoku. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; three daughters, Diana Davila, Karen Penney and Laura Young; one son, Charles Russell Young, Jr.; three step-children, Rebecca Hopkins, Michael Blake and Patsy Cantor; eight siblings, Jennings C .Young, George R. Young, Betty Sydenstricker, Arlene Boggess, Gale Rhodes, Nancy Anderson, Dewey Thomas, Jr. and James Young; 13 grandchildren, Andrew and Brandon Steadman, Kristen, Kaylee, Kelsey, and Shannon Cantor, Autumn and Tyler Metzner, Callie and Shiloh Penney, Christina Davila, and Jeremy, Bethany, Devin Blake; and two great-grandchildren, Destyni Faith and Aiden Steadman. Services will be Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010, at 1 p.m. at the Berry Short Funeral Home Main Street, Felton, where friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010. Interment will be at Union Cemetery, Georgetown. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 163, Salisbury, MD 21803-9813.
