Charles 'Pop' Herbert Ebling Sr., 79 RIDGELY, Md. - Charles "Pop" Herbert Ebling Sr., Ridgely, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008, in Caroline Home for Hospice, Denton. He was 79. He was born on Feb. 3, 1929, in Ridgely, to the late Amos Ebling and Dorothy Allender Ebling Jones A lifetime resident of the area, Mr. Ebling was a member of the Ridgely United Methodist Church. After 25 years, he retired as a HVAC mechanic for Saulsbury Brothers. Afterwards, he worked for Lenco Plumbing & Heating in Denton for 7 years. Additionally, he was a member of the Golden Eagle CB Club and Easton Moose 1520. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Amos Ebling; his brother, Dalmus Ebling; and his sister, Emily Scheers. In addition to his wife of 35 years, Rose E. Ebling, he is survived by five sons, Charles Ebling Jr. of Hartly, Del., Alden S. Ebling of Chestertown, Vincent Ebling of Henderson, and Steven Ebling and Bobby Ebling, both of Ridgely; three daughters, Sharon Beal of Sanford, N.C., Robin Messina of Baltimore, and Dottie Kottwitz of Ridgely; three brothers, Alden Ebling of Stevensville, Alvin Ebling of Harrington, Del., and Michael Ebling of Hampton, Va.; three sisters, Vera Virginia Cohee of Florida, and Phyllis Seamans and Mary Alice Hatter, both of Ridgely; 23 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday in Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home, Greensboro, where friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be in Ridgely Cemetery.
