Charles G. Jones Jr.

MILTON - Charles G. "Park" Jones Jr., of Milton, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011, at Beebe Medical Center. He was 87. Charles was born in Milton, son of the late Charles G. Sr., and Virginia (Burton) Jones. He was the grandson of Capt. Henry Burton and his father, Charles, was known by many as "Jones the Holly Wreath Man." He was a Foreman for Delaware Department of Transportation for many years, retiring several years ago. Park was a member of St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church, where he had formerly served as a Vestry member. His hobbies included toy trains, woodworking and making Christmas decorations. He was a Navy veteran and served in WWII. Park is survived by his wife of 64 years, Charlotte Ennis Lingo Jones; two sons, William F. Jones and wife Sandra, of Greenwood and Charles G. Jones III, of Milton; three grandchildren, Beth Jones, Mark Jones and Charles G. Jones IV; and four great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011 at 2 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church, 307 Federal St., Milton. A visitation will be Saturday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal Street, Milton, DE 19968. Burial will be in Goshen U.M. Cemetery, Milton. Flowers are accepted, or contributions can be made to the church.
