Charles G. Coker Sr., 79

DOVER - Charles G. Coker Sr., passed away Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009, in VA Hospital, Wilmington. He was 79. He was born April 23, 1930, in Dover, to the late James and Elizabeth Coker. Charles served in the United States Army and later worked at Smith Orchards, Spencer's Milling Company, and Jim Williams Steele Company. He raised ponies and was a driver for pony races. He has also enjoyed harness racing, raising beagles and rabbit hunting. He also enjoyed riding and repairing lawn mowers. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Sue Ann Coker; daughter and her husband, Denise and Ronald Pritchett; daughter, Donna Miller; son, Charles G. Coker Jr. and his wife Denise; stepdaughter, Jodi Seaman; stepson and his wife, William and Dawn Beasley; stepson and his wife, Johnny and Sissy Seaman; sister and her husband, Evelyn and Worth Townsend; brother, James "Jr." Coker; brother, Carl Lee Coker; brother and his wife, Gene and Nancy Coker; brother, Larry Coker; nine grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren, Cindy Hurtt and Dustin Beasley; 16 great-grandchildren; special nephew, Kenny Johnson; and a dear friend, Rob Ford. Remembrance and Memorial Services will be 12 to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009 at Maranatha Fellowship Church, 60 Deer Track Lane, Dover. Burial will be at the Immanuel United Methodist Church. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, at the Maranatha Fellowship Church in Dover. The family request that memorial contributions be given to Maranatha Fellowship, 60 Deer Track Lane, Dover, DE 19904.
