Charles F. Batey

DOVER - Charles F. Batey passed away Mon., Sept. 2, 2013. Charles was born on Jan. 4, 1929 in Liverpool England, son of the late William and Margaret Batey. He managed maintenance for J.C. Penney, before retiring in 1994. Charles enjoyed fishing, crabbing, traveling, gaming at the local casino, and spending precious time with family and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Joan Batey; a sister, Maggie Farrell; and a brother, Joseph Batey. Charles is survived by two sons, Alan Batey and his wife Wendy and Stephen Batey and his fiancé Deborah Morris; a sister, Teresa Husselbury; brother, Dennis and Maureen Batey; brother in law, Charley Valentine; grandchildren, Tara Jane Christmas, Mark Batey, Carly Batey and Jordan Batey; great grandchildren, Gemma, Annika, Kii and Leeoni Batey; nieces, Karen Marvel, Julie Laird, Lisa Valentine, Michelle Burgess, Joanne Batey; nephews, Mark Valentine, John, Tony, Brian, and Michael Farrell, Wayne, Gary and Dean Hussslbury, John and Gareth Batey. His life will be remembered and celebrated with a memorial service 1 p.m. Sun., Sept. 15, 2013 in the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming. Casual dress is requested by the family. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Delaware hospice, 911 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.
