Charles Elmer Phillips, 66
BALTIMORE - Charles Elmer Phillips, of Baltimore, departed this life on Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at home. He was 66.
He was born Jan. 20, 1942, to Mary Phillips and the late Owen Phillips of Rock Hall.
Mr. Phillips graduated from Garnett High School, after which he met and married the late Jeannette Strong.
Out of that union they had one child, Andrea Phillips.
He worked at Bethlehem Steel as welder/mechanic until he retired.
Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by his wife, his father and a brother, Edward Phillips.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Phillips of Rockhall; a daughter, Andrea Phillips of Elizabethtown, N.C.; brother, Lemont Phillips of Rockhall; a granddaughter, Nichole Phillips of Elizabethtown, N.C.; three sisters-in-law, Gloria Greene of Baltimore, Katherine "Smilies" Evans of Bladenboro, N.C. and Irene Sample of Bakersville, Calif.; a devoted cousin, Judith Ann Kennard; and devoted cousin and classmate, Shirley and her husband, Pete Scott, both of Rockhall.
Viewing was at Aaron's Chapel AME Church in Rockhall.
Services will be 10 a.m. today at Aaron's Chapel AME Church in Rockhall, where friends may view one hour prior.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
