Charles Carter Jr., 82

FELTON - Charles Carter Jr., of Felton, died Friday, April 3, 2009, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital in Dover. He was 82. Charles was born in Harrington, son of the late Charles Sr., and Rosa (Davis) Carter. He worked for International Latex Corporation (ILC), Space Suit Division, for 29 years. He then was employed with the State of Delaware at Kent Vo-Tech, until retiring several years ago. He served in the US Army during World War II, as a cook, in Italy. Mr. Carter was a member of the American Legion and Harrington Moose Lodge 534. He loved rabbit hunting, bowling and Cal Smith country music. In addition to his parents, Charles' wife of 55 years, Roberta (Killen) Carter preceded him in death in October 2008. He is also preceded in death by three brothers. John, James and Robert Carter. He is survived by five children, David, Dale, Charles A., Brenda and Scott Carter; 11 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2009, in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, Main St., Felton, where friends may call after noon. Burial will be in Hopkins Cemetery, Felton.
