HARRINGTON - Charles C. "Chuck" Foy Jr., age 66, of Harrington, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 20, 2011, surrounded by his family at the Milford Hospice Center. Chuck was born on Sept. 6, 1944, in Cowa, Ohio, and has resided in the small town of Burrsville, located on the outskirts of Harrington, for the last 45 years with his wife Sandra Foy. He graduated from North Caroline High school in 1962 and went on to work at the DuPont Nylon plant until he retired after 25 years of service. He then took passion in his hobby to repair lawn mowers and started his own business "Foy's and Sons." His business has been thriving for over 25 years now and customers come from all over the tri-state area to have their lawn mower repaired. He enjoyed spending many of his mornings and afternoons during the spring and summer months preparing, nursing, and harvesting his garden. He was always very generous and shared all the fruits and veggies his garden produced. When he wasn't taking care of his garden, he was caring for and rescuing the local stray cats that happened to show up on his door step. He also loved his current events. He was always watching the news channel and loved sharing the news with anyone that would listen, and loved to watch his favorite TV show, "Law and Order: CI." Chuck had a sense of humor that would lighten the most horrible days. He was a very kind hearted man and would go out of his way to do anything for you. Chuck was preceded in death by his father, Charles C. Foy Sr.; mother, Geraldine (Adams) 'Gerry' Foy; and brother. Samuel J. Foy Sr.; and an adopted aunt, Marjorie "Marjie" O'Day. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Foy of Harrington; children, Kenneth E. Foy Sr. and Mary Ellen Saunders of Farmington, Jamie A. Foy and wife Maxine Foy of Greenwood, and Kelly Foy-Callahan and husband David Callahan of Newark; his grandchildren, Cierra Foy, Laura Foy, Alan Foy, Kenneth Foy Jr., Victoria Oberdick, Shelby Swiderski; one great-grandchild, Shayla Steward; his brothers, George A. Foy, William A. Foy Sr. and his wife Joanne Foy; sister, Diane E. Hoover and her husband Bill Hover, all of Greensboro, Md.; his brothers-in-law, Jerry N. Hayman Sr. and wife Josie Hayman of Harrington, Sheldon Hayman and wife Bettie Hayman of Milford, and Dallas Hayman of Houston; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be 1 p.m., Thursday, March 24, 2011, at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington, where a visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday. Interment will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington. Arrangements are by the Melvin Funeral Home, visit our website at www.melvinfuneralhome.com.
