Catherine Elizabeth Mayer

Mayer, 79 FELTON - Catherine Elizabeth Mayer died Friday, July 6, 2012, at Bayhealth at Kent General Hospital in Dover. Mrs. Mayer was born December 28, 1932, in Brooklyn, N.Y. to the late William and Elizabeth Zeiss Yates. She and her husband, Arthur, spent most of their lives in Queens, N.Y. before retiring and moving to Felton. She was a homemaker, a member of the Red Hat Society and the Kooties Auxiliary, enjoyed gardening, and being a helping hand to her family. Mrs. Mayer was preceded in death by; her brother, John Yates in 1994. She is survived by; her husband of 60 years, Arthur "Art" F. Mayer; two daughters, Susan Morley and her husband Chris of Danbury, Conn. and Karen Mayer and her husband Bill Hall of Felton. She is also survived by; two grandchildren, Diana Sedita and Laura Cianflone and her husband Andy; two great-grandchildren, Courtney and Tesa. Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 1145 E. Lebanon Rd., Dover, DE 19901 where friends may call from 7 to 9 Tuesday evening. Interment will be at 1 p.m. in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro, Delaware. In lieu of flowers the family suggest contributions be sent to Alley Cat Allies, P.O. Box 98179, Washington DC 20077 or Sister of St. Francis of Assissi, 3221 S. Lake Drive, St. Francis, WI 53235-3799. Letters of condolence may be sent and guestbook signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
