DOVER - Cassandra "Sandy" Looney, of Dover, died March 9, 2008, after a lengthy battle of over 12 years with cancer. She was 50. Born in Charleston, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Charles L. and Irene M. Grant Looney of Dover. Ms. Looney had moved to the Dover area in 1969 and had worked as a waitress for most of her working life and had served as Dining Mgr. at Wild Quail until illness forced her retirement. Sandy will be remembered as a person who enjoyed shopping and yard sales and was one who treasured the company of family and friends and especially moments spent with her 2 nieces that she so dearly loved. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her. Besides her father, she was predeceased by a sister, Patti Looney Precourt. Along with her mother, she is survived by two sisters, Terry Looney of Perryville, Md., twin sister, Cynthia Hinkle and her spouse Charles who was a dear and loving brother-in-law of Magnolia; two nieces, Danielle Precourt of Woodbridge, and Amy Piolunek of Dover; two dear friends, Norman Lee of Dover, and Barbara Thorton of Perryville; and her dog "Baby." Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 13, at the Funeral Home of Michael J. Ambruso, 1175 S. State St., Dover, where friends may call starting at 12:30 p.m. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dover. Family suggests donations in her memory to the American Cancer Society, 92 Reeds Way, Suite 205, New Castle, DE 19720. Online condolences may be sent to ambruso@aol.com.
