'Sandy' Cassandra Irene Schubmehl, 80

DOVER - "Sandy" Cassandra Irene Schubmehl, of Dover, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2007, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital. She was 80.

Mrs. Schubmehl was born July 6, 1927, in North Hornell, N.Y. to the late David Smith and Geraldine Gibbs Smith.

Mrs. Schubmehl worked as a legal secretary in the Niagara Falls, N.Y., area, retiring in 1990.

She enjoyed sewing, reading and visiting her friends at Luther Towers, where she also volunteered at the front desk for a number of years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo W. Schubmehl, in 1986; and her sister, Carolyn Utley.

Mrs. Schubmehl is survived by her son, Thomas Schubmehl and his wife Elizabeth (Fadel) of Leominster, Mass.; her daughter, Susan Czarkowski and her husband Michael of Dover; six grandchildren, Thomas, Michael, Marc, Joshua and Beth Schubmehl and Melissa Johnston; and four great-grandchildren, Brooke, Katelyn, Colleen and Megan Schubmehl.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Glenwood Cemetery, N.Y.
