Carrie Annabell Roach, 81

SMYRNA - Carrie Annabell Roach of Smyrna died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2007, at the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill, Smyrna, after a long illness. She was 81.

Carrie was born Nov. 23, 1925, in Dover, to the late Leonard and Susan Guy Roach.

She attended Booker T. Washington School and Delaware State College for two years.

Carrie joined church at a very early age and was a member of The Church of God in Camden under the leadership of the Rev. Alford and later Bishop Burns, before moving to Wilmington.

Carrie worked at Capitol Cleaners some 30 years before retiring.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Sarah Hall; and four brothers, George Roach, Walter Roach, Thomas Roach and Leonard Roach, in May 2007.

Carrie is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Emerson and Pearl Roach of Dover; sister-in-law, Margaret Roach of Dover; eight nieces and eight nephews and their spouses, Evelyn (Robert), Doris (Charles), Pearl (Freddie), Carrie (Rodney), Emerson, Warner (Stephanie), Charles (Rosetta), Marian, Joyce (Kenneth), Ronald (Tina), Leonard Jr. (Sharon), George (Lynn), Connie (Bruce), Parker (Daphne), Joe (Carol), and Thomina (Dewitt); and a host of great and great-great-nieces and nephews, and friends and staff who cared for her at Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill in Smyrna.

Viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bennie Smith Funeral Home.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Bennie Smith Funeral Home in Dover, where friends may view two hours prior.

Burial will be at Gibbs Memorial Cemetery, Camden.
