Carol Ann Knechel, 75

DOVER - Carol Ann Knechel, of Dover, died Saturday, June 7, 2008, at home surrounded by her family. She was 75.

Mrs. Knechel was born July 21, 1932, in Boston, to the late Thomas "Bozo" Snyder and Gertrude Hayes Snyder.

At an early age she was on Vaudeville with her parents.

She worked as a waitress raising six children in Lambertville, N.J.

Mrs. Knechel worked many years as a purchasing agent for Nieces Lumber Co. in Lambertville.

She and her family moved to Delaware in 1986 where she worked in purchasing and sales for Fessenden Hall Co.

Mrs. Knechel helped organize the first girls' softball league in Lambertville.

She was involved in the Cub Scouts and Brownies with her children.

She also was involved in the PTO fundraising for her grandchildren who attended East Dover Elementary School.

Mrs. Knechel loved dancing, crossword puzzles, arts and crafts, sailing, going to Broadway shows and musicals, Las Vegas trips and a trip to Priest Lake, Idaho, but she especially loved following reports of her grandchildren's sporting events and school accomplishments.

Mrs. Knechel is survived by her husband of 50 years, Nelson Knechel of Dover; four sons, Bruce Michael Currie of Lambertville, Keith Allen Currie of Spokane, Wash., Adam Nelson Knechel of Milford, and Andrew Thomas Knechel of Lambertville; two daughters, Christine Currie Creveling of Lambertville, and Mary Ellen Burkhamer of Dover; her sister, Virginia Obedin of Lahaska, Pa.; 15 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be private.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. Dupont Highway, Dover, DE 19901 for whom the family is very grateful. We will never forget the loving care and support they gave.

Arrangements by Torbert Funeral Chapel.

Letters of condolence may be sent, and guestbook signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
