DOVER - Carlos "Diz", Morris, Sr. died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018, at Kent General Hospital in Dover.
Mr. Morris was born in Dover on Sept. 8, 1939, to the late Alfred Napoleon Morris and Edith Sammons Morris.
He grew up on his family farm and became a heavy equipment operator for George and Lynch, which later became Tilcon, where he worked for 48 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and all outdoor activities. He especially enjoyed fox hunting. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
Mr. Morris was the eighth of ten siblings. Preceding him in death are his parents; and eight of his siblings, Gertrude Mosley, Bertha Sammons, Barbara Pierce, Richard Morris, George Morris, Allen Morris, Wendell Morris and Thomas Morris.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Helen Ridgeway Morris; his children, Dr. Carla Morris, Dawn Morris, Carlos Morris, Jr.(Connie), Alfred Morris, and Craig Morris; a sister, Gladys Burrell (Floyd); a devoted brother-in-law, Luther Sammons; uncle, Ulysses G. Sammons, all of Dover. Also surviving are grandsons, Carlos Morris, III (Ashley) and Marcus Morris, both of Dover.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018, at the Torbert Funeral Chapel, South, 1145 E. Lebanon Rd., Rt. 10, Dover, DE 19901. A visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time. Interment will be in the Fork Branch Cemetery, Dover.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest that memorial contributions be made to either the American Diabetes Assoc., 100 West 10th Street, Suite 1002, Wilmington, Delaware 19801 or the Nat'l Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd St., New York, NY 10016.
