Carl 'David' Goodnight, 53

DOVER - Carl "David" Goodnight of Dover died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 53.

David was born Oct. 18, 1954, in Anchorage, Alaska, to Sidney L. Coonts Brown and the late Carl D. Goodnight.

David served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was on their boxing team.

After the service he returned to Missouri where he worked as a welder.

David enjoyed art work, metal fabrication and riding dirt bikes.

He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing.

David was a loving son, father and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carl D. Goodnight, in 2003; his wife, Lisa Kelley Goodnight, in 1998; and his brother, Ricky D. Goodnight, in 1982.

He is survived by his mother, Sidney L. Brown and her husband Allen of Dover; two daughters, Amanda Hill and her husband Bill of Hughesville, Mo., and Christina Goodnight of Sedalia, Mo.; his sister, Diana Ruff and her husband Michael of Felton; his devoted sister-in-law, Linda Goodnight-Halverson of Dover; his grandchildren, Cheyenne Hill, Cherokee Hill, Dakota Hill, Raven Goodnight, Krislynn Armstrong, Sky Dennis and Noelle Dennis; special nieces and nephews, Makenna and Matthew Goodnight and Emma and Jacob Gearhart; three nephews, Jason Goodnight and his wife Jennifer of Dover, Christopher Gearhart and his wife Michele of Dover and Michael Ruff of Felton.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford St., Dover, where friends may call two hours prior.

Interment will be private.
