DOVER - Bryon Gooden Hurd, Jr. passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at Kent General Hospital.
Mr. Hurd was born, February 3, 1939, in Smyrna, Delaware to the late Byron Gooden Hurd, Sr. and Marie Bradley Hurd.
He served in the United States Army Reserves for four years, he retired from Playtex as a machine operator after 15 years in 2004 previous to that he worked for Joan of Arc, Green Giant, Pillsbury as a mechanic. Mr. Hurd enjoyed bowling on bowling leagues, and surf fishing.
In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by brothers, Lou, Leon and John Hurd; and sister, Blanche Hurd; and grandson, Wayne Watson, Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Dora Negrete; children, Doreen Pierce and her husband Vince, Wayne Watson, John Watson and his wife Jill and Margaret Bane and her husband Chris; sisters, Thelma Nickerson, Charlette Pleasanton, Kathy McDaniel and Rose Green; grandchildren, Stephen, Crysta, Josh, Jon, Gentry, James, Steven, Katie, Zackary, Jacob, Hailey, Michael, Jesse, Christopher, Daphne, Bradley, Taylor, and Erin; five great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Monday, September 20, 2021, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. Services will be live streamed on Torbert Funeral Chapel's https://www.torbertfuneral.com/
