Brice M. Hickman, 82

BETHANY BEACH - Brice M. Hickman, of Bethany Beach, and Lake Wales, Fla., passed away on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2008, in Lake Wales Medical Center. He was 82.

He was born in Millville on March 28, 1925.

After graduating from Lord Baltimore High School, Mr. Hickman served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater on L.S.T. 908. After being discharged from the Navy he graduated from the University of Delaware with a degree in business administration.

He had a long banking career and retired from PNC Bank in 1988.

Mr. Hickman was a caring person, who served his community in many capacities. He was an officer in the Optimist Club, the United Way of Delaware, the Modern Maturity Center and served in many ways in the Wesley United Methodist Church of Dover, and is a member of Mariners Bethel United Methodist Church.

He loved his sports: duck hunting in the Delaware marshes, golfing, skiing with friends and family, fishing, tennis, running and walking with friends on the boardwalk at Bethany Beach.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Hannah Parsons Hickman; his daughters, Jan Hickman, Lynn Wood and Kay Hickman; and grandchildren, Rachel and Eric Wood, and Grace and Sophia Hetfield; his sister, Kathleen Howard; and a special person in his life, Valerie Fagen and her family; and many very special friends.

A memorial service was held at the Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Wales, Fla.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Mariners Bethel United Methodist Church, Ocean View.

Instead of flowers, contributions may be made to either Mariners Bethel United Methodist Church or Millville United Methodist Church.
