Blanche A. Carey, 81
Blanche A Carey, of Dover, passed away Friday June 14, 2024, at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital in Dover.
Blanche was born January 27, 1943 in Dover to the late Howard D. Abbott and Ella M. Moore Abbott. She grew up in Dover and graduated from Dover High School. Shortly after graduating she started working as a secretary for Mr. Buchanan at Buchanan Service Inc the Firestone Tire Center in Dover. After 16 years she started a new career working for the Delaware Trust Bank in Downtown Dover. She worked at the bank for 29 years, staying with the bank through their many name changes, and retired as branch manager of the Wells Fargo branch in Downtown Dover.
Mrs. Carey enjoyed the beach, some fishing but mostly the sun. She was a Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan and at one time enjoyed knitting.
Blanche was a member of and two term President of the Dover Century Club. She also was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church of Dover.
Blanche is survived; by her husband of 60 years, Carleton Carey Sr.; two sons, Carleton "Buck" Carey Jr. (Kelly and stepdaughter Christina) of Dover and David Carey (Nicole) of Dover; grandchildren Matthew Carey (Caroline), Eric, Amanda, Caleb and Skyler; great granddaughters; Claire and Hannah Carey.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at Torbert Funeral Chapel 1145 E. Lebanon Rd. Dover, Delaware 19904 where a visitation was held Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. Interment was in Lakeside Cemetery in Dover.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Dover Century Club.
